The family has lovingly composed the following obituary:
Florence Cornelia Milewski, well known as “Connie,” was born into the Hobbs family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 5, 1935. She lived with her parents, Bertha Hastings Hobbs and Robert Hobbs, her two older brothers Robert and Calvin, two older sisters Margaret and Sarah (Suzie), and niece Virginia (Ginny).
Connie graduated from Lincoln High school, worked at the Philadelphia Quartz Company, and married Emil F. (Sonny) Milewski Jr in 1957. In their 53 years of marriage prior to Sonny’s death in Viera Florida, Connie and Sonny had two daughters and one granddaughter, ran a fruit and produce business in the Rhawnhurst section of Northeast Philadelphia known as Emil’s Fruit and Produce, enjoyed many travels, and retired to Viera, Florida.
Connie returned in 2010 to live in Philadelphia at the Paul’s Run Retirement Community, and died peacefully on August 18, 2020 at the Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. Connie is survived by her two daughters Donna Melcher and Kim Reidy, son-in-law Bob Melcher, granddaughter Christen Wudarski and her husband TJ, and three great-grandchildren, Luke Wudarski, Gabriel Wudarski, and Hope Wudarski. Connie had immense love for her family and will be greatly missed by her family members.
Connie will always be remembered for her fondness of birds. She had many bird pets in her lifetime, including parakeets, canaries, finches, and parrots. She enjoyed playing games such as Mah Johngg and Rummikub, and art classes in acrylic and watercolor painting. Most of all she will be remembered for the painted pumpkins and themed life-size displays she made annually for autumn festivities at the family fruit stand. And for her beautiful smile.
Due to the current constrictions surrounding Covid-19, services were held privately.
