The following obituary was composed by Dolores’ daughters.
Dolores Roberta Young was born in Philadelphia on September 3, 1945 to George and Pearl Freedman. She attended Edward W. Bok High School and held various jobs over the years. She retired a machine operator from K-mart distribution center at the age of 58. Dolores resided with her daughter Terry until her passing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by two daughters Terry and Pamela, six grandchildren Latrice, Alexandra, Aubrey, Latoya, Donald, and Troy. She is survived by eleven great grandchildren Isaiah, Justice, Makayla, Malachi, Sophia, Noah, Nihcayla, Chance, Paton, Josiah, Lola, and one great great grand Avery.
Dolores loved to sew and crochet. Her favorite pastime was being with family. Dolores created many beautiful blankets for the family and was crafty like her mother. Whenever her family needed her she was always there for them. She gave of herself to the very end. Giving made her heart glad. When she saw her blankets being enjoyed by her family she smiled. Dolores was the matriarch of the family.
She was close to her sister Cassandra and loved her brother David. Our mother and friend held the family together. She was the glue. She was loved enormously and will be greatly missed. Dolores was a woman of faith in Jehovah. She was baptized a Jehovah’s Witness and stayed true to her faith with every expression.
Psalm 19:14 says: Let the words of my mouth and meditation of my heart, be acceptable in they sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. and prayer service at 2:00 P.M. at the chapel of Ivy Hill Cemetery, 1201 Easton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19150. The chapel is to the left after entering the cemetery.
