The following obituary was composed by James’ family.

James E. Shields of Roslyn, Pennsylvania died Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Deer Meadows Nursing Home. He was 88 years old. James was born February 3, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Son of Andrew Shields and Anna Shields (nee - Duffy).

Jim was married to his first wife Lillian “Lil”, for almost 30 years and raised 4 children together until she passed away. He was lucky enough to find love a second time around with his wife Rosemarie. They celebrated 30 years of marriage in August 2021.

Father to Kathy, Michael (Alicia), and Andy. Stepfather to David (Wendy), and Lynne (Kevin). Loving Pop-pop to, Mackenzie, Conner, Sean, Lauren & Monica. He is survived by his sister Theresa and was preceded in death by his siblings Andy, Anne, Cass, and Nora, his son Jim (wife Diane), his step son Joe (Justine), and his granddaughter Colleen. He was an uncle to many nieces & nephews.

He was a dedicated & reliable worker for over 30 years before his retirement from Edgecomb Metals. During his life, he was an avid craftsman. He enjoyed wood working, painting & drawing. He passed down his passion for cars to his son & grandson. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Rosemarie. They visited many states & countries over the years. His love for chocolate kept Milton Hershey in business.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. and memorial service at 6:30 P.M. at Metropolitan Funeral Service Inc (at Wetzel and Son), 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 250, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
