The following obituary was written by Janessa’s family.
Janessa Lynn Donahue, 36, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on August 31st, 2024. She was born on September 8th, 1987, and is survived by her parents, Michael and Karen Donahue, by her brothers and sisters: Christopher, Melissa, Ryan, Adam, Shawn, Megan, Shane, and Hannah and leaves behind two beautiful daughters, Peyton and Madeline Donahue, whom she loved deeply and of whom she was always a proud mother.
Though life’s paths sometimes led Janessa and her family in different directions, her free spirit never wavered. She lived boldly, embracing the world with an adventurous soul, always carving her own unique path with her fearless nature. Her deep love of sports started in childhood as she cheered on her siblings, a passion she joyfully passed down to her daughters as they began their own journeys in competition.
She touched the lives of those she encountered, was a loyal and loving friend, and she was deeply loved by her siblings and children. Her memory will be cherished, and she will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. A private family celebration of life will be held in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either Active Minds (2001 S Street NW, Suite 630, Washington, DC 20009), or to any organization that promotes, assists, supports, and defends children in the foster care system. Some examples include the National Foster Parent Association, Together We Rise, Foster America, and the Children’s Defense Fund (Foster Care Programs).
