Catherine Howie, of Abington, PA, died on January 26, 2025. She was 74 years old. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Catherine and Joseph Tompkins, her mother Eunice Tompkins, and her aunt, Mary Tompkins Sowney (Jack). She is survived by Mary’s stepdaughter Jacqueline McCurdy (Michael) and their children, Maggie, Mary Kate, and Michael.

Catherine attended Ancilla Domini for elementary school and Melrose Academy in Elkins Park for high school. Catherine worked as a mail carrier for many years and retired from the US Postal Service. She had many fond memories of her colleagues and customers which she often shared.

Catherine loved animals and took in many strays throughout the years including her beloved cat Turnip who “turned up” at her house and became part of the family. In her later years, she enjoyed trips and dinners out with her aunt, Mary, and the “ski group.” Catherine was Mary’s dedicated caregiver at the end of Mary’s life and she missed her tremendously when she passed. Family and friends are comforted knowing that she is reunited with Mary in heaven.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. and Memorial Mass at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Help Of Christians, 1500 Marian Road, Abington, PA 19001. Her graveside service followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038. Religious services were conducted by Fr. Anthony W. Janton, pastor of Our Lady Help Of Christians.

Donations may be made in her memory to Ancillae-Assumpta Academy, 2025 Church Road, Wyncote, PA 19095.
