Joseph Ianieri and Sallie (Weir) Ianieri

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of a wonderful, loving couple Joe and Sallie Ianieri of Harleysville, PA. Joe passed peacefully on June 5, 2025 of Lewy Body Disease; he was 91 years old. Just four weeks later on July 3, Sallie passed from a brain tumor; she was 88 years old. They are survived by their son Joey (Keri), three much-loved grandchildren Charlotte, Pete, and Robert, and many nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by brothers Tom and Rich. Sallie is survived by brother Jim and sister Kathleen Martin.

Joe was born on May 11, 1934 in Altoona, PA to Joseph and Lena Ianieri. He was one of four brothers. He loved playing and watching baseball, listening to music, and anything to do with cars. Joe was a salesman for Magarity Chevrolet in Flourtown for over 25 years. He also proudly served for two years in the U.S. Army.

Sallie was one of seven children born to David and Ellen Weir on March 27, 1937 in Wyndmoor, PA. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed traveling and entertaining. Sallie was the family matriarch, looking out for everyone. She took great pride in her home and was the Director of Roslyn Nursing Home for twenty years.

Joe and Sallie both loved to dance, and that is how they met—while dancing at a house party. They were married in Wyndmoor in September of 1956 and were practically inseparable for the next 68 years. They loved doing many things together – dancing the jitterbug, listening to music, vacationing in Cape May, hosting the annual family Christmas celebration, enjoying picnics around their pool, and playing cards with their many friends. Most of all, they enjoyed people. They loved spending time with family and friends.

Beyond professional accomplishments, Joe and Sallie’s legacy is most vibrantly seen in their love for family and in their everyday acts of kindness. Family, friends, and neighbors recall countless stories of their quiet generosity: meals delivered to doorsteps during hard times, help with a newborn baby, errands run without hesitation, financial assistance to someone going through a difficult time, listening empathetically when someone needed to talk, and the list goes on. They were always willing to help. They found joy in the little things, were quick to laugh, and loved bringing people together. They were a wonderful example of a devoted couple and a positive influence on all who knew them.
