The following obituary was composed by Kendo’s family:

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kenneth Richard Taylor (Kendo), of Philadelphia, PA, who departed this life on August 30, 2025. He was 67 years old. He was born on February 4, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA to Lucille Sykes (deceased). He is the grandson to Emma Paules (deceased); Brother to Kevin (deceased) Aline, Terrence (deceased), Traci, Stephanie & Rodney; Uncle to Marc, Tiffany, Naiym, Nafiysa, Aneesah, Nyuma, Christopher, Casey, Robert, MacKenzie, Christian, Stephanie Kira, Ashley, Ariel & Rodney jr.  Kenny was educated in the School District of Philadelphia

Kenny had a caring, vibrant & comical personality. Once you met him, you could never forget him. From his gift of gab (especially to strangers) to his unwavering belief that he could do anything. That belief and skillful attempts at multiple trades often gained him immediate employment and the nickname Kendo!

Kendo left a lasting impression on everyone. His desire to be a positive influence and to provide assistance to others is what made him special. Kenny didn’t care about how much money he had in his pocket….but he did care about how much money you had in yours.  Mostly because he knew there was always someone else in need. Kenny would literally give you the shirt off his back even if it left him with nothing.  He’d always say to Traci, “I’ll get by, leave me alone” if questioned about his generous spirit.  A loving tribute to Kendo was expressed like this:

“To Uncle Kendo, You have always been around us forever. Aline (Nisa) gave you the nickname Kendo because you will Do!! anything for us. We are going to truly miss that. You were that uncle that everyone knew, loved & enjoyed. You were so generous to us & everyone you came in contact with.  We appreciated the love you showed us in the absence of our father (your Big Brother) for all these years. We love you always Kendo! Aline (Sister in law), Marc,Tiffany, Naiym, Nafiysa, Aneesah.

Kenny will be missed by his family & friends.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and memorial service from 12:30 to 1:00 P.M. at Ivy Hill Cemetery, 1201 Easton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19150.
