The following was composed by Kathleen’s family:
Kathleen Mary Smith, loving wife of Michael Frederick Smith who predeceased her in 2016, has passed away in Lansdale, PA on December 11, 2025, at age 90. She is survived by her children Michael (Christine), Maureen Bender (Christopher), Stephen (Nary), Kathleen Taylor (Frank), Brian (Denise) and Paul. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Daughter of John Carroll and Helen Duffy, Kathleen grew up in the “Swampoodle” neighborhood of North Philadelphia and graduated from Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School. She married Michael F. Smith, a Roman Catholic High School graduate, in 1956.
After raising 6 children, Kathleen returned to school and graduated from Gwynned Mercy College with a degree in Nursing in 1975 and became a Nurse Practitioner in 1980. She practiced at Pennridge Ob/Gyn Associates until her retirement. In addition to her large family and countless friends, Kathleen poured her heart into her work and her patients.
Kathleen and Mike moved from Fort Washington to Legacy Oaks in 2000 and to Brittany Pointe Estates in 2010. With new friends, Kathleen and Mike enjoyed traveling, swimming, bridge, golf, music and book discussion clubs.
Kathleen was a long-time member of St. Philip-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Oreland, which later joined with St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Glenside, PA.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at Brittany Pointe on January 30th at 2pm (located at 1001 Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA 19446).
A memorial service was held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on January 31st, 2026; visitation with family at 9:30 am followed by the Service from 10 to 11 am (654 N Easton Rd, Glenside, PA 19038).
Interment will be in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Doctor’s Without Borders in memory of Kathleen Smith.
