The following obituary was composed by Marek’s family.
In Memoriam – Gone Too Soon
Marek Grinberg was born on October 13, 1955, in Poland, to WWII survivors. He was raised on a family farm. At 13 years of age his family began the journey west – first to Italy for 10 months and then to the United States in 1970. In January 1983 he met his wife, and they were soon married on June 24 of the same year.
He worked hard to support his family, starting at age 17, even holding down 3 jobs at one point simultaneously. After working in manufacturing and truck driving for 26 years, he enjoyed a 20+ year tenure at Villanova University in the Chemical Engineering department. He was known for detailed, exceptional work as ‘Mr. Fix-It’ while taking care of the laboratory. He also pursued real estate ventures, and the family rarely if ever needed to hire contactors or mechanics, as he could do almost everything himself.
He always enjoyed learning new things. Some of his favorite activities were fixing cars, skiing in younger years, hiking in the mountains, and tending to the home wood burning stove even just weeks before his death. Some of his favorite travel destinations were Niagara Falls and the Pocono Mountains. He enjoyed music and encouraged his daughter to pursue piano lessons. He also encouraged his children to get a good education and make wise choices.
Marek lovingly cared for members of his family and faith. He was well known for his hospitality, patience, and heartfelt encouragement, which touched many lives. He never refused his help or knowledge in helping others.
Marek fell asleep in death surrounded by the love of his family, on January 28, 2026, after battling gastric (stomach) cancer for 5 years. Marek will be remembered as a devoted family man whose life was marked by love, faith, and quiet strength. He is survived by many family members.
